Whatcom Community College is dedicated to helping their students succeed. Students can earn several types of degrees here, depending upon their goals. The Associates of Arts and Sciences degree will help students complete their required coursework and transfer to a 4-year institution as a junior to continue their education. Whatcom also offers certificates in Healthcare, Business and Technology and Design for students who want a fast track education into today’s competitive workforce. Current high school students can also take advantage of the International High School Completion program, which allows students to dual enroll and earn a high school diploma and 2-year degree at the same time. Students at the college can participate in sports like volleyball, soccer and basketball or take advantage of the campus fitness room. Students can also join the schools many clubs and organizations including Art Club, International Sports Club, & Teachers of Tomorrow.
The college campus rests on 71 acres of some of the most picturesque land in Washington state. The scenic city of Bellingham is surrounded by natural beauty with state parks, hiking trails and of course the Bellingham Bay.Students can go for a walk or go biking on the scenic Interurban trail, see a waterfall at Whatcom Falls Park orNooksack Park, go on a hike at Sehome Hills Arboretumor even go whale watching to see the namesake or cas.
There are also ample cultural and entertainment opportunities.Students can enjoy a movie at the Pickford Film Center, visit the Heritage Flight Museum, or go bowlingat Park Bowl. The area is surrounded with activities,restaurants and attractions, plenty to keep anyone busy.The weather is quite mild year-round with lots of rain in the spring and pleasant summers and autumns.
