The College of San Mateo works hard to create an environment that will help students integrate their classroom studies with their activities outside of the classroom. The school has a local as well as international student population from 40 different countries.
College of San Mateo offers a comprehensive selection of academic support services. Resources include financial aid and scholarships, counseling, transfer services, tutoring, employment assistance, health services and childcare, among many others.
Students from San Mateo can also participate in sports activities including, track, softball, football, aquatics or baseball. They can also take part in the schools many extracurricular activities such as Anatomy Club, Architecture Club, Astronomy Outreach Club and Film Club to name just a few.
San Mateo College is located in the suburban community of San Mateo, in Northern California. The school sits on 153 acres of land overlooking the San Francisco Bay. San Mateo offers its residents a bounty of opportunities to gather, enjoy the outdoors or just have some fun on a budget. Students can enjoy annual events like Eggstravagansa and the Central Park Music Series. They can also enjoy the many parks in the area, including those that offer water play. They can go golfing, catch a movie or enjoy a meal at many of the local eateries.
If there is a break coming up, students can take advantage and take the short trip to San Francisco for a change of pace. There they can have a taste of some of the best Clam Chowder on Fisherman’s Wharf, take a trip to the famous Alcatraz Island, appreciate the breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge or take pleasure in the nightlife of the city.
